If the question continues to plague medievalist research,[1] the presence of the Middle Ages in our societies seems to be self-evident, at a time when medievalism is in vogue. In 2019, a previous issue of Medieval Perspectives was devoted to its presence in contemporary political discourse, attesting to the strong axiological and rhetorical value of the representations attached to it[2].
