As a result of different mix design, different durability characteristics could be expected for self-compacting concrete in comparison with traditional vibrated concrete. Degradation mechanisms of cementitious materials are greatly influenced by the permeability for potentially aggressive substances. As the pore structure is different for SCC in comparison with traditional vibrated concrete, some specific durability issues can be noticed.
