This study offers a systematic analysis of the phenomenon of [-count] (lexical) plurals (*trois epinards, '3 spinach'), which are subjected to a series of linguistic tests. On the basis of a large corpus inquiry, combined with a sentence rating task, a typology of plural nouns is proposed, showing that [-count] plurals constitute a gradual phenomenon. The analysis also points out some interesting mass/count shifts and shows some statistically significant correlations between the tests
