Operational planning models for drinking water production and distribution are not as widely studied as those for electricity production and distribution. There are, however, many challenging optimization problems that arise in drinking water networks. Because of recent expansion of the existing network of VMW, a major drinking water company in Flanders, the interest for such a model rises within the company. The study in [3] focuses on developing a first optimization model that can be used in a decision support system to economically manage the network. The analysis of the data and the results of the first test runs of the program are reported
