Verification of the BTD-SAGE algorithm with simulated and experimental data

Earlier work investigated the Space Alternating Generalised Expectation maximisation (SAGE) Algorithm in the time-domain. Previously, this high resolution technique for Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation is not only verified with theoretical simulations but also with practical measurements performed at the university of Kassel. In this work the existing SAGE Algorithm will be adapted to a novel algorithm capable of detecting different paths in a broadband environment and with large antenna arrays. This Broadband Time Domain SAGE (BTD-SAGE) Algorithm combines the signals of the different antennas in another way. After the theoretical explanation of the algorithm, we will test the implemented software with the previously used propagation ray-tracing tool EPICS. Using this adapted version of the SAGE Algorithm, the indoor channel measurements performed at the University of Kassel with a carrier frequency of 1.8 GHz and a bandwidth of 600 MHz, will be used to extract the time delay, the azimuth angle and the complex amplitude of the significant paths in the room
