In this article the current knowledge on the duck plague virus infection is reviewed. Emphasis is put on etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, lesions, histopathology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, prevention and control. Furthermore, a duck plague virus infection in two geese (Anser spp.), one swan (Cygnus spp.) and one duck (Anser spp.) is described. A tentative diagnosis was made by histopathological examination of the liver, the spleen, the kidneys and the small intestine and by electron microscopic examination of the oesophagus, the liver and the cloaca.
