Tout au long de son œuvre, Céline a été à la poursuite d’une nouvelle forme d’écriture qui soit à même d’exprimer l’émotion, entendue comme la part la plus intime et la plus mystérieuse de l’être, une force à la fois organique et spirituelle, assimilable à l’énergie vitale. Cette émotion, presque de l’ordre de l’indicible, s’oppose à la sentimentalité, à l’épanchement affectif et au narcissisme littéraire.
