In structural applications, laminated glass is widely used as a protecting element. In assessing the efficiency of a window configuration with respect to impact resistance, numerical simulation methods can provide a cost-efficient tool to investigate the influence of material parameters. In this contribution we aim to model also the breakage and post-failure response of monolithic and laminated glass in an impact event. Crack initiation and propagation in the glass material model are treated by a mode I Rankine criterion, along with element deletion upon failure to allow for fragmentation.
