Antimicrobial resistance is a human health concern but is understudied in the marine environment compared to the terrestrial environment. Antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) can disseminate to the marine environment, the ultimate receptor of effluents contaminated by human activities. The objective of this work was to study the occurrence of four antimicrobial resistance indicator genes, tetA, blaTEM, sul1 and intI1, in a benthic food web and surface waters.
