This investigation studies whether Swedish pupils learn the sociocultural rules of the French language during French lessons. It examines and analyses the content of the French school books of two French classes at upper secondary school level, first and second years, and the observations of these two classes in order to determine if socioculture is part of the pupils teaching and if they are given the possibility to practice what they have learned. Furthermore, the teachers of each of the classes were interviewed so as to define what their thought about sociocultural rules, their importance in the French language and teaching, and whether these two teachers use specific methods so as to teach these rules.
