Le problème de la traduction des métaphores

The aim of this thesis is to find out what kind of problems can be encountered by a translator in the translation of metaphors from French into Swedish. The corpus is an election programme used by the Front National for the French Presidential Elections in 2007. We started by looking at translation in general and then more closely at the translation of metaphors. A certain amount of metaphors were taken out of the text and their translation into Swedish was analysed. To get as broad as possible an overview of the difficulties that a translator encounters different kinds of metaphors were chosen from the original French text. The translation of these metaphors went from very easy to very difficult.
