An attempt is made in this paper is to analyze the commercial banks role in priority sector advances in the state of Karnataka. Commercial banks in Karnataka have achieved remarkable success in spreading bank offices to the remote rural areas. However, there is need to open much more bank branches to reducing block-wise-disparities in terms of banking presence in the district, the same opinion suggested by Dr. D.M. Nanjundappa committee also. The performance under priority sector lending has been noteworthy even under banking sector reforms era also.
