A Literature Study on Sustainable Development Planning on Urban-Rural Fringe

The aims of this study is a different conceptual frame concept and problems and opportunities for sustainable development at fringe. This paper is based on the previous work carried out by several urban expert at national & international. As cities become increasingly developed, so does the area at their periphery or 'fringe', often referred to as the 'rural-urban fringe'. Despite the fact that they face a variety of obstacles as city territory expands, fringe areas can be considered a geographical space with enormous potential for development. India has experienced significant urbanisation and urban population increase for the past three decades. Contrary to the major cities, which have legal institutions for planning, control, management, and the providing of infrastructure services, the outer areas either have a poor structure or there are none whatsoever. The goal of this essay is to analyse the connections and inconsistencies between the concepts of sustainable development and the rural-urban fringe. Although the literature examined must cover a wide range of topics, I will acknowledge that I have a personal bias in favour of views from geography, environmental studies, and agriculture. Setting the scene with a little introduction is necessary before presenting this review. Explanation of the key concepts, such as rural-urban edge and sustainable development. The World Commission on Environment and Development's (1987) report Our Common Future, which undoubtedly ranks among the most frequently quoted works of the late 1980s and early 1990s, continues to be the important document on sustainable development.
