Popular Reality Shows in the Modern Mediatised Communicative Culture of Ukraine: Socio-cultural Aspect

The purpose of the article is to analyse the sociocultural influence of popular reality shows in the context of modern mediatised culture of Ukraine. The research methodology is based on the cultural approach to the study of modern television morphology. The article examines the major sociocultural messages and communicative strategies, due to which reality show itself broadcasts certain cultural values. The research is complemented by an art history analysis of the existence features of modern morphological formation of reality show as an image of “innovative vision” of the screen “reality” by a modern viewer. Characteristic features of reality show genre form are given by analysing and supplementing blighty and foreign researchers’ scientific works. The sociocultural functions of reality shows and their cultural influences in television and cultural space are revealed. Scientific novelty bases on the identification of manipulative strategies that create certain sociocultural messages to society, and fundamentally, cultural values are broadcasted, forcing them to change the behavioural strategy of reality show heroes, as well as the audience. Reality show is defined as a modern morphological formation of an audiovisual nature in communicative culture. Culturological aspects of reality show are emphasised in postclassical communicative culture, which is virtualised. As a result, it generates new morphological formations with postclassical narrative structure. Behavioural strategies of characters of the genre form as a part of communicative culture of the present are analysed. Conclusions. Reality show performs the functions of a tool for providing the individual’s primary socialisation in international community conditions with blurred class boundaries. Reality show is a reflection and, at the same time, a basic element which forms modern communicative culture, imitating the phenomena of this culture, making changes in the structure of the narrative (composition), and using new forms and meanings
