Due to ongoing climate change and the intensification of international trade in plant products, the threat of transmission of new plant pathogen species and their development in areas not previously occupied by these pathogens is significantly increasing. One such threat is Xylella fastidiosa, which causes grapevine diseases and was first detected in the US, in 1987. In Europe, its occurrence has been recorded in the following countries: Serbia, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
