Pflanzenfam. 2a: 135. 1891; Pillans in J. S. African Bot. 13: 160. 1947 – Lectotype (designated here by Oliver): Drège s.n. (S06-13288 [ex herb. Sond.], lecto; K-75854!, MEL-27720 [ex herb. Sond.], HBG- 503106, PRE-12089, SAM-15797!, S-G-8320, S08-7156, isolecto). This species was included in the DNA analysis but came out unresolved in its position on the cladogram (see Fig. 1); morphologically it shares characterswith B. subg. Brunia, subg.
