Patients may refuse medication for a variety of reasons, including religious views, dietary restrictions, misunderstandings, cognitive impairment, self-harming intent, and simple inconvenience. This decision provides a unique circumstance for pharmacists and staff members of long-term care facilities, particularly if patients have dementia.
