Aphasia

As psycholinguistics emphasize, communication is the most powerful tool in human life and a consequence of complex processes in the brain. Thus, through communication individuals can engage in meaningful interaction and obtain a meaningful life experience. Indeed, speech and language increase the productivity of communication. Significant brain regions include the arcuate faciculus, Broca’s area, superiortemporal gyrus, angular gyrus, supramarginal gyrus, Wernick’s area, middle temporal gyrus, heschl’s gyrus in the left hemisphere that mainly associate with the individuals’ language functions (Hallowell, 2017). Therefore, damage to these brain regions leads to the acquisition of certain neurogenic language disorders, which can be denoted as aphasia. The primary goal of this study is to investigate the causes, symptoms, and prevalence of aphasia and critically evaluate appropriate aphasia treatment approaches based on available research evidence
