The study of sulfate type salification of soils and subsoil grounds is considered on the basis of space images and by the contact methоd. Sulfate type of saline soils was recognized decently by processing of space pictures. The researches showed that the sulfate salification is widely spread in the major part of the Shirvan steppe. To define the type of salification of subsoil grounds of studied territory soil sections of 2m depth were laid and soil patterns were taken from every 25sm for definition of the amount and content of salts in the solonchak areas
