The article deals with the issue of the possibility of using renewable energy sources for lighting systems. The article highlights the pros and cons of light sources using renewable energy sources. The study is conducted through the consideration of such topical issues as energy conservation policy, environmental safety, insufficient lighting of streets and roads. Using the calculation, the economic feasibility of such lighting systems is demonstrated. In conclusion, other arguments in favor of autonomous lighting systems using renewable energy sources are briefly analyzed
