Objective: Hypertriglyceridemia, a component of the metabolic syndrome, is a known independent predictor of albuminuria and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the general population. Previous studies have shown that the relationship of triglycerides with outcomes changes across stages of CKD. Our objective is to examine the association of triglycerides independent of other metabolic syndrome components with renal outcomes in diabetic patients with or without CKD.
