The findings of the study reported here show an improvement in the way girls are portrayed in children\u27s books. Like boys, they are also shown as strong, physically active, and wise. However, there still exists some inequality in the way boys and girls are depicted. One notable finding is the absence of elements of destruction and competition in the books analyzed. Larger study samples and alternative modes of analysis are recommended to get a clearer picture of gender portrayal in Filipino children\u27s books. Teachers, writers, and parents are also reminded to be sensitive to this issue and to help children deal critically with text
