This black and white photograph of an older Carl Schurz shows him seated with his legs crossed in an ornate wooden chair with his left hand propped up on one arm of the chair and his right elbo propped up on the other arm of the chair. Schurz is wearing a dark suite and vest with his white shirt sleeves visble from the cuffs of his coat. He has a full beard and is wearing small eyeglasses.
