This work consisted in the application of X-ray microtomography to the geometry characterisation of fractures subject to dissolution. The aim was to better understand the relationship between geometry changes and flow and transport evolution. The structural observations permitted to highlight the unstable dissolution in fractured medium, which can lead quickly to preferential flow pathway formation associated with a very fast increase in the permeability. The implication of the natural rocks mineralogy and texture also appears to be determining in the evolution of the surface roughness, the transport of the elements towards the water-mineral interface, and the dissolution patterns.
