This thesis describes a few experimental approaches designed to measure the mechanical properties of ultrathin polymer films (with thickness between 20 and a few hundreds of nanometers). Our experiences aim to understand the effect of confinement and of the surfaces on their properties. We present mainly the conception and the use of a dewetting experiment of thin films on a liquid substrate. The technique is shown to allow a direct and simple measurement of the viscoelastic properties of the polymer films above $T_g$. The results obtained on ultrathin films bring evidence that the rubbery plateau of polystyrene is unaffected by the confinement up to a fraction of the coil size. For the same films, the viscosity is found to be greatly reduc...
