Determinación de la capacidad de absorción visual en las unidades de paisaje del páramo San Elías en la parroquia de Mulalo, cantón Latacunga, provincia de Cotopaxi, propuesta de conservación de las unidades de paisaje, 2022.

The present research work is carried out with the purpose of determining the visual absorption capacity in the landscape units (UP) of the San Elías moorland of the Mulaló parish, located in Latacunga canton of the Cotopaxi Province, where the diagnosis of the current situation of the San Elías paramo was determined, the components that are part of the UP were identified, the Visual Absorption Capacity (C.A.V.) was determined and finally a conservation proposal was made. It was established through the descriptive method to make an approximation of the data obtained in the application of the instruments, which allows the analysis and systematization of the data, in addition to use the ArcGIS software, for the elaboration of the maps cartographic of the studyzone. The current state of the moorland was diagnosed, through the field trip and applying an incidence survey to 30 people from the place, the same instruments that allowed recognizing the different activities present in the study area and its current state. At the same time, gave way to the identification of the UP. For the determination of visual quality, the BLM method was applied, while to determine the C.A.V. The YEOMANS method was used, which allow qualifying in a qualitative-quantitative way through its weighting scales to the landscape units through the selected photographs. The results show the current situation of the study area evidencing the presence of different anthropic activities such as the case of forest plantations with 48.79% of the study area, with 5% the presence of agricultural and livestock activities is evidenced and finally 43.69 remaining presents natural moorland landscape conditions. 5 landscape units were determined, such as: wooded areas, advance of the agricultural frontier, livestock, native vegetation of the moorland and slopes. The visual quality was determined in which photographs 1,2,4,5 have a High Quality that is, they are areas with unique and outstanding features, while photograph 3 presents a Medium Quality, and that is, they are common in the region studied and non-exceptional, according to the BML method. Finally, the C.A.V. was determined in which all the photographs present a low C.A.V., that is to say the landscape is VERY FRAGILE, they are areas of high slope and hardly to regenerate. The integration of visual quality and C.A.V. indicates that the study area needs priority Conservation. Based on these results, conservation, regeneration and maintenance activities are proposed for the study area.El presente trabajo de investigación surge con la finalidad de determinar la capacidad de absorción visual en las unidades de paisaje (UP) del páramo San Elías de la parroquia de Mulaló, ubicado en el Cantón Latacunga de la Provincia de Cotopaxi, donde se determinó el diagnóstico de la situación actual del páramo San Elías, se identificó los componentes que forman parte de las UP, se determinó la Capacidad de Absorción Visual (C.A.V.) y finalmente se realizó una propuesta de conservación. Se estableció mediante el método descriptivo para realizar una aproximación de los datos obtenidos en la aplicación de los instrumentos, mismo que permite el análisis y sistematización de los datos, además de utilizar el software ArcGIS, para la fabricación de los mapas cartográficos de la zona de estudio. Se diagnosticó el estado actual del páramo, mediante la salida de campo y aplicando una encuesta de incidencia a 30 personas del lugar, mismos instrumentos que permitieron reconocer las distintas actividades presentes en la zona de estudio y su estado actual, a su vez, dieron paso a la identificación de las UP. Para la determinación de la calidad visual se aplicó el método de BLM, mientras que para determinar la C.A.V. se empleó el método de YEOMANS, mismos que permiten calificar de manera cuali-cuantitativa mediante sus escalas de ponderación a las unidades de paisaje por medio de las fotografías seleccionadas. Los resultados muestran la situación actual de la zona de estudio evidenciando la presencia de distintas actividades antrópicas como el caso de plantaciones forestales con un 48.79% del área de estudio, con un 5% se evidencia la presencia de actividades agrícolas y ganaderas y finalmente el 43.69% restante presenta condiciones de paisaje natural de paramo. Se determinaron 5 unidades de paisaje como son: zonas boscosas, avance de la frontera agrícola, ganadería, vegetación nativa de páramo y pendientes. Se determinó la calidad visual en la cual las fotografías 1,2,4,5 poseen una Calidad Alta, es decir son áreas con rasgos singulares y sobresalientes, mientras que la fotografía 3 presenta una Calidad Media es decir resultan comunes en la región estudiada y no excepcionales, según el método BML. Finalmente, se determinó la C.A.V. en la cual todas las fotografías presentan una C.A.V. baja, es decir el paisaje es MUY FRAGIL, son áreas de elevada pendiente y difícilmente regenerables. La integración de calidad visual y C.A.V. indica que la zona de estudio necesita de conservación prioritaria. Con base en estos resultados, se proponen actividades de conservación, regeneración y mantenimiento para el área de estudio
