The management of domestic animal genetic resources is a topic of pressing concern. Managing territorialized common goods of this kind calls for cooperative mechanisms involving a wider range of actors than before. How to steer these mechanisms, and handle the crises in cooperation that can impede them, is crucial to maintaining biodiversity. Starting from an analysis of the mechanisms for selecting local milk ewe breeds in the Western Pyrenees, this thesis seeks to show the value of a multi-level approach to cooperation in dealing with common goods.
