This study concerns both the modelling and the numerical simulation of boiling flows. First we propose a review concerning nucleate boiling at high wall heat flux and focus more particularly on the current understanding of the boiling crisis. From this analysis we deduce a motivation for the numerical simulation of bubble growth dynamics. The main and remaining part of this study is then devoted to the development and analyze of a phase field model for the liquid-vapour flows with phase change. We propose a thermodynamic quasi-compressible formulation whose properties match the one required fot the numerical study envizaged.
