Crack width variation along the concrete cover depth has been studied from the past for better understanding of the cracking phenomenon in reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Previous studies have highlighted important cracking behaviors like internal cracks. The behavior of ‘slip’ between the reinforcement and concrete and the formation of a nonuniform crack face along the concrete cover depth are still not very clearly understood.
