This thesis presents a 2D numerical and physical study of the dynamics of a viscous incompressible fluid initially at rest, put in motion by forced transverse rectilinear oscillations of a cylinder. That system is described by two dimensionless numbers. The Reynolds number (Re) measures the ratio of the inertial forces to the viscous forces, and the Keulegan-Carpenter number (KC) compares the amplitude of the cylinder oscillations to its diameter. The objective is to determine the influence of those two parameters on the drag and transverse forces exerted by the fluid on the structure, in relation with flow dynamics.
