Chlorophyll fluorescence brings a new dimension to classical reflectance remote sensing of vegetation by providing a probe of the photosynthetic mechanism. A present challenging issue is the up-scaling from the well-known leaf level to the exploratory canopy level. I study the impact of the canopy structure on the fluorescence emission and his passive remote-sensing. A first step was the development of a specific protocol for quantitative comparison between leaf and canopy fluorescence spectra under natural illumination. This set-up, apply on a dedicated platform over different crop species, highlight key mechanisms involved in the modification of fluorescence emission between both scale.
