The Late Bronze Age in the Balearic archipelago was a hugely dynamic time with sweeping changes on many levels. This article provides evidence identifying the use of lost wax and casting on the islands during this period. The introduction of these new techniques occurred alongside the appearance of new formal types with no prior local examples or outside equivalents. This leads us to reflect on the role of local island communities in the Western Mediterranean and how this technological know-how was passed on.
