This thesis seeks to find relationships between the types of regimes in power in Latin America and bureaucratic structure. Does one have an influence on the other? This question is attacked first by periodically examining the growth of sixteen Latin American government cabinets over a 114 year period. Later, the same question is approached by observing the evolution of autonomous agencies in two countries, Brazil and Venezuela. In both methods of study, the countries under examination are placed into democratic and non-democratic categories. Differences between categories are then scrutinized.Political Science, Department o
