Courage is a most problematic kind of excellence. For it does not seem to benefit t±ie very ones who possess it. On the other hand, courage seems crucial to the well-being of the ccmmunity. It seems that courage benefits the community at the risk of the individual. Thus we seek an answer in the Laches to this question: How, with respect to courage, are the interests of the individual reconciled with the interests of the ccmmunity?
