International audienceThe Farasān Islands are an island territory that offers a unique field of study for the southern Red Sea in Antiquity. The very nature of this territory leads to two observations: on the one hand, these pieces of land located 40 km from the Arabian Peninsula are isolated from it, which allows us to hope for a crystallisation of cultural features otherwise “diluted” on the mainland and, on the other hand, they are undoubtedly connected with the surrounding region due to its location on the maritime circuits around the Red Sea.
