Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a common complication of diabetes. DN progresses to end-stage renal disease, which has a high mortality rate. Current research is focused on identifying non-invasive potential biomarkers in the early stage of DN. We previously indicated that pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) is excreted in the urine of rats after cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). However, it has not been reported whether PKM2 can be used as a biomarker to diagnose DN.
