The fast-changing market conditions, the increased global competition and the rapid technological developments demand flexible, adaptable and reconfigurable manufacturing systems based on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Aligned with CPS, the adoption of production system architectures is suitable to reduce complexity and achieve interoperability in the industrial applications.
