This article aims at discussing some recent assessments of the so-called “apocalyptic” literary genre. The study focuses mainly on deconstructionist approaches towards the concept of genre for the analysis of historical and cultural contexts in which literary theories are not explicitly attested. Focusing on media connections between the so-called prophetic and apocalyptic texts, the article emphasises the communicative continuity between Jewish prophetic materials and Second Temple and Early Christian visionary texts, especially in light of the progressive canonisations of prophetic corpus during the 1st and the 2nd century CE.
