Le «Décaméron» dans la théorie du roman et de la nouvelle de Friedrich Schlegel

In this article, the author aims to show the role of Boccaccio’s Decameron as an exemplary model of literary fiction in the early critical theory of Friedrich Schlegel. In the first part, the article analyses Schlegel’s definition of the ‘novella’. In the second part, it shows the key role of hermeneutical concepts such as irony, the hybridization of genres, parabasis, and Witz within Schlegel’s interpretation of the Decameron – an interpretation that underlines the strong metaliterary component of the work, and that dismisses any univocal or fixed reading of Boccaccio’s masterpiece.Dans cet article, l’auteur vise à montrer la place du Décaméron de Boccace en tant que modèle exemplaire d’œuvre romanesque dans les pages critiques du jeune Friedrich Schlegel. Dans la première partie, c’est la définition schlegelienne de ‘nouvelle’ qui est analysée, alors que dans la deuxième partie l’article montre comment les concepts critiques forgés par la théorie du roman schlegelienne – l’ironie, le mélange des genres, la parabase et le Witz – permettent une lecture du Décaméron capable d’en souligner la forte composante métalittéraire et d’en décourager certaines interprétations univoques et rigides
