The precipitation, which is an important phase transformation in condensed matter physics, has been studied in this PhD thesis.A thermodynamic model accounting for the observed increase of the solute content in coherent precipitates with their size during precipitation kinetics is developed. The model is based on a Gibbs energy minimization criterion. It proves the importance of the elastic and interfacial energies in investigating the thermodynamic stability of coherent nano-precipitates.
