Animated Ramayana Story in Multiscreen Display Using Wayang Beber Visual Language

Wayang is one of Indonesia's oldest heritage. Executed as an art performance, wayang comes in many forms, one of them is wayang beber. Wayang beber is made as series of painting drawn on scrolls. Wayang beber is drawn with unique visual language by using STP (space-time-plane) system of drawing that is convenient to use to tell story using pictures. But popularity of the old and traditional art performance like wayang beber is decreasing today. The youth seems more interested in the modern culture such film, animation or video game. To gain this youth interest in wayang, we develop an experimental animation adapting visual language that is used in wayang beber. Visual style and character design are also made based on wayang beber depiction. The animation is displayed on multiple screen that is synchronized so the animation can be performed in synergy. By performing wayang in this modern form, we expect to increase popularity of wayang especialy to the young generation
