Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process is an unconventional and promising sintering method for producing dense materials while limiting the granular growth phenomenon. This technique is based on the simultaneous application of a uniaxial stress and a high heating rate induced by the flow of a pulsed electric current within the graphite tooling, or even in the granular medium (if it is conductive). However, the physical phenomena generated by the flow of the pulsed current are not fully understood and subject to controversy.
