Wurzelatmung spielt eine wesentliche Rolle für den Kohlenstoffkreislauf im Ökosystem Wald und im Kohlenstoffbudget der Pflanzen. Das Wissen über die Einflussfaktoren auf die Wurzelatmung ist bislang jedoch begrenzt. In dieser Arbeit wurden deshalb Experimente durchgeführt, um die Auswirkungen von abiotischen Faktoren und intrinsischen, wurzelmorphologischen Faktoren auf die Wurzelatmung zu untersuchen. Der erste Versuch, an Acer platanoides Sämlingen im Labor durchgeführt, bestimmt die Wurzelatmung unter fünf Stickstoffformen und vier Konzentrationen.
