In instrumented prescribed fires, the ignition procedure requires much attention. In this paper, we investigate the effects of two ignition procedures on the fire head using a 3D numerical model. The first procedure is to ignite the fire from the edges of the fire line towards the centre of the line. The second procedure consists of igniting the fire from the centre of the fire line to the edges of the line. The 3D numerical model used is based on the modelling of the fuel layer from Lagrangian particles, and the fire propagation is based on a two-phase model.
