In this study, keratins were extracted from pig nail waste via the reduction method for the first time, using L-cysteine as the reductant and urea as the lytic agent. Nylon6 and pig nail keratin were successfully combined via electrospinning to generate a series of nylon6/pig nail keratin nanofibers with a variety of keratin concentrations (0% to 8%, w/w). From the results, it was found that the best concentration was 6% (w/w).
