Fluoride can induce hepatotoxicity, but the mechanisms responsible are yet to be investigated. This study sought to investigate the role and mechanism of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS), autophagy, and ferroptosis in fluoride-induced hepatic injury with a focus on the role of mtROS-mediated cross-talk between autophagy and ferroptosis. To this end, an in vivo Sprague-Dawley rat model and in vitro BRL3A cells were exposed to sodium fluoride (NaF).
