To understand the causes of seismic low-velocity layers and seismic anisotropy of the subducting oceanic crust in warm subduction zones, the seismic properties of glaucophane, epidote, and albite in epidote blueschist were studied. The epidote blueschists were experimentally deformed in simple shear at high pressure (0.9-1.5 GPa), temperature (400-500 degrees C), and shear strain up to gamma = 4.5. The seismic velocity and anisotropy of polycrystalline glaucophanes, epidotes, albites, and whole rocks were calculated using the lattice preferred orientation (LPO) of grains and elastic constants of each mineral.
