La céramique architecturale de Samarra (Iraq) est issue des décors palatiaux du calife au sein de sa capitale abbasside (836-892). Cette thèse a déterminé les origines de la technique de décor de ces céramiques, de rassembler un corpus de pièces, de préciser leur découverte, de comprendre leur usage et leur agencement à l’origine dans le palais, d’étudier les origines et la diffusion de leurs techniques décoratives. Il s’agit en effet des premières céramiques architecturales glaçurées islamiques. Les fragments découverts à Samarra ont été dispersés après la première guerre mondiale et sont réunis pour la première fois.
