Even though photopolymerization technology has been successfully applied to coatings, adhesives, 3D printing and many other fields in the past decades since the scientific and technological development, photopolymerization processes under mild conditions (e.g.; low light intensity and visible light sources) are still the focus of research in this technology. The greatest challenges are the design and synthesis of high-performance photoinitiators (PIs) / photoinitiating systems (PISs) that can work effectively under more moderate conditions such as low light intensity and visible light sources.
