Different synthetic procedure for preparation of TiO2 nanoparticles with desired shape and size were developed. Structural characterization of TiO2 nanoparticulates was performed using XRD and different microscopy techniques. Influence of surface modification on the charge separation process was studied and possible application in photocatalysis, solar cells and fabrics with antibacterial effects were discussed. Optical characterization with special emphasis on photoluminescence, up-conversion effect and formation of surface charge transfer complexes was performed.
